Thank you Skateboarding: Positive Impacts of your efforts with the Dallas Parks Board

Thank you for all who received our email and wrote to your Dallas Parks Board members about the skate spot at Carpenter Park. You had a huge impact! Making things happen with government takes continuous effort and a long term perspective. As an important reminder, this is a different skate spot than the flagship park at Bachman Lake, which is full speed ahead.

In 2016, the skateboard community supported including a skate spot at the planned Carpenter Park (a project of Parks for Downtown Dallas). Skateparks for Dallas (SP4D) recently got news that the skate spot was moved from the original design to an unfunded phase 2.

SP4D reached out to you to advocate for ensuring that the skate spot stay in Phase 1, and you responded by emailing in big numbers to Dallas Parks Board members and got great energy around the skate spot. Watch the full 7 minutes of Clinton Haley championing the skatepark downtown. Skateparks even wins unanimous support from the council to speak for more than the allotted 2 minutes.

And finally, watch as Parks Board President Calvert Collins-Bratton shouts out the Dallas skateboarding community and provides an excellent summary of where the project is today. Ultimately the skatespot will be held until Phase 2 and the next bond program, but the positive impact of your efforts are reflected in the Parks Board President’s closing statements. Thank you to all of our Parks Board Members for your support of Dallas Skateboarding

support.
