Phase 1 is fully funded. We raised $406,296 towards the Oak Cliff Dallas Skatepark, thanks to a matching grant from the Eugene McDermott Foundation and to the individuals and businesses throughout Oak Cliff and the City of Dallas who made it possible.

How the $1.8 million came together

In 2024, Dallas voters backed a $1 million bond allocation to kick off the design and construction of the Westmoreland skatepark. Our grassroots campaign then raised a further $400,000, which unlocked the matching $400,000 the city had set aside for skateparks.

That is $1.8 million to build the skatepark at Westmoreland Park in South Oak Cliff - and it closed out Phase 1 of the campaign. The park is under design now, with construction expected to begin in late 2026.

Phase 2: shade, so the park works year-round

The Westmoreland area is home to a large number of children, and the need for a skatepark in Oak Cliff is well documented - once it opens, this park will be busy. To let families skate and rest safely through the Texas summer, we are raising $300,000 to install a shade structure over key parts of the park.

We are halfway to that goal. $100,000 is dedicated ARPA funding from the city, and special thanks to Walsh Group and Matthews Southwest, who have each pledged $25,000.

Community is rallying around the creation of a skatepark at westmoreland park, get involved!

The most common request to Skateparks for Dallas since our founding in 2017 has been for a skatepark to be built in Oak Cliff, so we were very excited to be approached by District 1 City Council Member Chad West and Park Board Representative JR Huerta regarding the creation of a skatepark in the district.

While our Oak Cliff elected representatives provided the spark, the community was truly ignited by the possibly. In no time, an in-person design input session was organized in partnership with New Line Skateparks that overflowed with enthusiasm at the Martin Weiss Recreation Center. After this exciting event, local media including the Oak Cliff Advocate and Dallas Morning News wrote stories in support of the park.

The Oak Cliff Skatepark T-Shirt was a huge hit, so we sold out.
