Oak Cliff Dallas Skatepark Design Session: "Skate-ocracy" in Action with New Line Skateparks

The invitation flyer

The most common request to Skateparks for Dallas since our founding in 2017 was for a skatepark to be built in Oak Cliff, so we were very excited to be approached by District 1 City Council Member Chad West and appointed Park Board Representative JR Huerta regarding a prospective skatepark in his district.

That hope took a first important step to reality when Park Board Member JR Huerta invited the community to Martin Weiss Recreation Center on November 29, 2022 to give design input to a skatepark in the district. To assist the process was Kanten Russell and Ryan Crane from New Line Skateparks visited to facilitate the session. This session was similar in scope to the Garland session that ultimately lead to the Rick Oden Skatepark that opened in October 2022.

And just like the Garland session the Dallas action sports community overflowed the recreation center with enthusiasm!
